#AWEurope Wrap-up: Day 1

From the kickoff at Ronnie Scott’s Breakfast session with Dentsu Aegis Network UK’s Tracy De Groose declaring the end of the Big Idea, to the introduction to the Advertising Week Europe Academy: In Partnership With The Berlin School of Creative Leadership and a conversation with Sir Martin Sorrell, Day 1 was packed full of educational, informational and entertaining nuggets. Delegates could pick and choose, but the process was made even easier for those looking to find more about talent at the Talent Track presented by MEC or those who courted multiple screens in the Cross Screen Summit Block.

In the morning, Michael Roth, Bob Safian and others discussed whether technology and the rapid changes in data were an Evolution or Revolution while a lively debate happened during the Ad Blocking seminar on the Guardian Stage.

The noontime hour found Facebook’s Nicola Mendelsohn learning some magic from Dynamo at the Facebook Creative Talks session.

In the afternoon, Cat Lewis, Lauren Laverne and Harriet Vine made strong impressions during the Who Run the World, Girls session, while singer and TV personality Alesha Dixon told the world that they needed celebrity talent on the Getty Images Stage.

In the evening, networking with cocktails and speeches in front of the iron throne from Game of Thrones at the opening gala gave way to an intimate show by Grammy winners Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, with a soulful set by opener Andra Day. The opening night was a success that started off the week with style.
